On June 3-4, as the Supreme Court was preparing its decision on a case that could potentially overturn or modify Roe v. Wade, hopeful pro-life leaders gathered at Bethany Church in Baton Rouge to envision a post-Roe Louisiana.

They gathered as strangers, embarking on a journey to a strange land.

Longtime Catholic educator Claire Willis has been hired as assistant superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Baton Rouge effective July 1.

The Easter season concludes as we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, followed by The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. We read in the Sunday Gospels of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon those in the upper room, and of the joy of life in union with the Blessed Trinity.

Put the candles on the cake and let the Holy Spirit light the fire, it’s time to wish the church a Happy Birthday! 

Catholics emerged from St. Joseph Cathedral Parish Hall in Baton Rouge on a sunny, breezy day May 18 after praying together, learning about Catholic social justice teachings and getting updated on actions being taken by the Louisiana State Legislature.
