Priest: The Word of God is living and effective, discerning reflections and thoughts of the heart, and so we pray…
Deacon (or other reader if there is no deacon):
Exodus 17:8-13
· For the work of the Church in securing freedom for those unjustly oppressed, safety for those living amidst the destruction of war and God’s hope in times of civil strife and danger; may hope in the consolation of God strengthen the hearts of all who believe, we pray to the Lord…
· For the Church, that she seek to accompany the faithful through their difficulties; we pray to the Lord…
· For legislators, that they implement just measures for the common good; we pray to the Lord…
· For peacemakers that they never lose hope; we pray to the Lord…
· For leaders in workplaces, that they set an example of compassion and mercy; we pray to the Lord…
· For workers, that they be treated with dignity and respect and receive a living wage, we pray to the Lord…
· For children, that they may be educated in an environment that is free from harm and violence, we pray to the Lord…
· For all who have died, especially [add deceased names or “parishioners of” (add name)], and the intentions of this mass [add mass intentions], may they dwell secure with the Lord forever, we pray to the Lord...
· In silence, we pray for own needs and the special intentions of others, to the God who promises to return for those who live in his love… [pause; the presider alone concludes…]
Priest: Wondrous God, you do not leave us orphans. Hold us in your mercy and justice, and grant that we may do your work well on earth. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
