The Diocese of Baton Rouge supports the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. There are 40 million people in the United States living in in poverty. This collection supports programs that empower local communities to address the challenges they face. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development supports those living in poverty across the country. It identifies and addresses the unique obstacles people face as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. In addition, 25% of the funds we collect will remain in our diocese to fund local antipoverty projects. By supporting this collection, you are giving those on the margins a hand up, not a handout. Please be generous.

Catholic bishops of the United States launched the collection in 1988 in response to the profound lack of retirement funding among US religious communities. Collection proceeds offer these communities supplemental support for stabilizing retirement savings and meeting day-to-day needs. Generosity to the annual appeal has helped many religious communities address their retirement deficits, yet hundreds of others continue to face a troubling gap between the needs of aging members and the funds available to support them.

The Church of Baton Rouge invites you to help strengthen families, fund Catholic education, and foster priestly and religious vocations by giving to the Collection for the Church in Latin America. For over 50 years, Catholics in the United States have expressed solidarity with the Church from Mexico to the Caribbean, to the southern tip of South America through this special collection!

The Diocese of Baton Rouge will once again support a special Collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. This collection supports the Church in more than 20 countries that still struggle to recover from Communist rule. Funds from this collection support pastoral care, catechesis, building renovations, and seminary formation. Your support restores the Church and builds the future in this region. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection!

Mandated by the III Plenary Council in 1884, the National Collection for Black and Indian people continues as the embodiment of the Church’s concern for evangelizing the Black and Indian peoples of the United States. The funds are distributed as grants to dioceses throughout the United States, supporting and strengthening evangelization programs which otherwise would cease. The Collection was formerly known as The Black and Indian Home Mission Collection.
