The Bishop Stanley Joseph Ott Works of Mercy Trust Fund was established within the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to continue in a permanent way the principles, spirit and projects of Bishop Stanley Joseph Ott. The Works of Mercy Trust Fund allows our entire community to reach out to those less fortunate, in need and who have nowhere to turn.
Since its establishment, the Works of Mercy Trust has funded over $491K programs and initiatives.
This year, we awarded $18K to three worthy programs.

More About our 2021 Grantees

To support building resilient Parents and Children together (PACT). Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge provides an intergenerational, peer visitation approach with a phone-app-based early education curriculum and an evidence-based school readiness curriculum to help vulnerable families navigate the changing crises during a time of social isolation that exacerbates risks. They integrate case management, behavioral health, and financial assistance, helping families emerge stronger.

Line4Line’s Summer Mobile Outreach is a free 8-week camp for youth living in historically underserved Baton Rouge communities. Serving 100 youth weekly, who do not engage in summer camps and live in low-income, high crime neighborhoods with limited opportunities. Operating 1 day a week in 5 neighborhood parks and community partner sites, presenting hands-on activities that strengthen summer and COVID-19 learning loss, through unique social emotionally grounded, culturally responsive curriculum that creatively uses Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math to engage the whole child.
