Chrism Mass

The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on March 31, bringing together clergy, religious, and faithful from across the Diocese of Baton Rouge. During this solemn liturgy, the bishop blesses the holy oils used in the sacraments throughout the coming year — the Oil of the Sick, the Oil of Catechumens, and the Sacred Chrism. Priests of the diocese also renew their promises of priestly service, offering a powerful sign of unity with the bishop and with one another. The Chrism Mass is one of the most significant diocesan celebrations of the year as the Church prepares to enter the sacred days of the Triduum.
