In the past when I attended the healing Mass at St. Mary's Assumption in my beloved hometown of N'Awlins, Father Harry Grile, C.Ss.R., former executive director for the Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos Center, shared this story about blooming where you are planted and finding treasure "where y'at?!"
The story goes that a poor rabbi in Krakow, Poland had a dream about finding wealth in Warsaw under a bridge. After a few nights of this same dream, the rabbi told his wife, "I must search for this!"
So after making the trek to Warsaw, he was tired, so he slept first near the bridge that a guard was manning. The guard saw the rabbi, awakened him and asked why the rabbi was there.
The rabbi told the guard his story, at which the guard replied: "How Funny! I've been having a similar dream at which I was told to go to Krakow to a rabbi's house to find a treasure buried beneath the rabbi's floor! I'm just about to go!"
Another similar insight came to me recently when I had a chat with long-time friend, Peter Nahkid.
After some normal initial pleasantries, Peter asked me, "Is there somewhere you would really want to be now?" – which I took to allude to what upcoming places I would like to visit after we has shared about some recent trips we had taken.
So I went on to list off some sites I'd hoped to eventually visit, including getting together again with some of our shared buddies who live around the world.
But Peter kept coming back to that question, "Is there somewhere you would really want to be now?"
Then Peter helped me to break into the real matter at hand ...
I answered, “There is no other place, Peter, I would rather be than with you at this moment!”
We tend to not only live so much in the past or the future when the one only moment we can live in is the PRESENT MOMENT!
So were's your treasure??? Sometimes right “Where Y'at?!” as us “Yats” say!’
