St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge has has permanently closed its Plank Road thrift store as part of a broader effort to enhance and streamline services for the community.
"To better serve our neighbors, we are transitioning operations to our new Holmes Outreach Center at 6190 Greenwell Springs Road in Baton Rouge,” said SVdP in a released statement. "This location will feature a pharmacy, a thrift store, and additional services designed to create a comprehensive, one-stop resource center for the community."
The new hub is slated to open in Summer 2026, allowing SVDP to strengthen service delivery and expand the ways it supports neighbors across Louisiana
In the interim, SVdP encourages everyone to continue to shop at its Staring Lane location, which remains fully operational
For neighbors seeking assistance:
Those in need of clothing or household items can visit any other St. Vincent de Paul thrift store location.
Those seeking hygiene and personal essentials can visit the organization's main campus.
SVDP administrators added, "At St. Vincent de Paul, we regularly evaluate our programs and facilities to ensure we are making operationally sound decisions that position us to best serve the needs of the organization and the communities we support.
"While the Plank Road Thrift Store has closed, our commitment to the community remains strong, and we are actively exploring additional opportunities to serve even more individuals and families in meaningful and sustainable ways."
