Enrichment credits are catechetical continuing education credits for individuals employed by the diocese who are required to earn specific levels of catechetical certification. Enrichment credits can be achieved by various pre-approved experiences, including but not limited to:
Catholic theology coursework offered by a Catholic institution in-person or online. This can include taking a MAT I or MAT II course after obtaining either Basic or Intermediate Certification.
Conferences, retreats, parish missions, special presentations, bible studies, etc.
Community outreach through volunteer service work with approved agencies in the region.
Who Needs Enrichment Credits?
All Catholic elementary and high school teachers are to earn a minimum of 5 hours every school calendar year (i.e., one hour or more every other month).
How does an event qualify for Enrichment Credit?
Approval for events to receive credit must be obtained through the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis. Please fill out this form in plenty of time before any planned event: https://learncat.diobr.org/certification-credit-request-forms/
Someone helping to plan or oversee the event must be willing to take charge of not only filling out the form but also gathering signatures on the day(s) of the event and sending them to the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis.
Enrichment credit is earned by:
Locating and signing any relevant sign-in sheets for credit.
The participant must stay the entire time or be present for each session if it's over several days. No partial credit is given for most Enrichment events.
