Bishop Duca Announces Deacon Assignments

April 11, 2026In consultation with the Clergy Personnel Board, Bishop Duca announces the canonical appointments of the two men to be ordained as transitional deacons on 20 June 2026 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge:Deacon Jeremy Chiasson, a native of St. Patrick Parish, is appointed Deacon Assistant at Our Lady of Mercy in Baton Rouge.Deacon Aeli Poydras is appointed Deacon Assistant at St. Aloysius in Baton Rouge, where he has been a parishioner.Their diaconate internship will last from the conclusion of their Spring semester at Notre Dame Seminary in May through the end of this calendar year.Given at the Chancery of Baton RougePlease continue to keep them in prayer as their ordination approaches!
