Members of the clergy, consecrated persons, and the lay faithful have traditionally fostered a culture of vocations to priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life here in the Diocese of Baton Rouge.
The purpose of this board is to assist the Office of Vocations in screening candidates, especially those for priesthood, regarding their suitability and ability to begin formation in our propaedeutic and seminary programs.
The team is chaired by the Director of Vocations and meets with different candidates at multiple times during the year. Formal acceptance as a candidate for seminary, however, rests with the diocesan bishop.
The men and women who serve on this board possess an expertise regarding the temperament necessary for men to carry out the sacred responsibilities of priesthood, and they assist the bishop in his decision to admit new candidates into formation.
