Function To support the discernment, development, and ongoing ministry of the Office of Spiritual Direction, Spiritual Direction Advisory Committee has been established. The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to support the Office of Spiritual Direction in the discernment and execution of its vision and mission. It serves as a sounding board and helps ensure the standards for spiritual directors are met in the Diocese of Baton Rouge and gives advice regarding professional development offerings and other ongoing formation opportunities to provide spiritual directors and all the faithful in the diocese.
Composition
The Office of Spiritual Direction Advisory Committee is formed through recommendations given to the Diocesan Bishop or his delegate, to the Director of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis, and to the Director of the Office of Spiritual Direction.
The total number of members shall be 8 with varying terms of three, two, or one year, and terms of office that are renewable. In addition, the Vicar General and the Secretary of Evangelization Secretariat shall serve as ex-officio members.
Quarterly meetings via Zoom shall be chaired by the Director of the Office of Spiritual Direction.
