Bishop Duca's Statement Regarding the
Bishop-Elect of Houma-Thibodaux

The faithful of the Diocese of Baton Rouge join me in congratulating Reverend Simon Peter Engurait on being named Bishop-elect of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux by Pope Leo XIV.

The new bishop is well known to the Houma-Thibodaux diocese, having served as a pastor, vicar general and most recently as the diocesan administrator. We know the people of our neighboring diocese are delighted to have a new Shepherd whom they consider one of their own.
